The KK Diaries: UMS and KK's Beautiful Sunset

Still on Day 3, diary. Don't worry, this is the last part.

Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia

USM Kota Kinabalu Malaysia
One of USM's main buildings.

We swear that we took the right bus and read the instructions on how-to-get-your-ass-at-Aquamarine-museum posted at Sabah's Tourism website thrice before exploring the upper district of Kota Kinabalu. I did not know what happened, but we seemed to have difficulties in locating the Aquamarine Museum. We climb numerous flights of stairs, entered this museum-like building (only to find out that it was the University Chancellor's building... wow sosyal building talaga!), only to find out that the museum was closed on Sundays.

It sucked big time. But hey, we just looked on the brighter side (excuses... excuses...)!

UMS or Universiti Malaysia Sabah is a state university of Kota Kinabalu. It was established in 1994. I can't believe that I AM OLDER THAN THIS UNIVERSITY. Everything in the campus was organized! The place pretty much reminded me of my alma mater, University of the Philippines, sans the maroon-green banners and of course, the Oblation. Some parts of the university were located on a hill, offering a panoramic view of the West Philippine Sea and Mount Kinabalu, the most prominent peak of Sabah State.

It was a Sunday, so the campus was literally deserted, like a scene from a zombie-flick-where-the-lead actors-seek-shelter-only-to-find-out-that-a-few-flesh-eating-creatures-live-in-this-seemingly-peaceful-place.  PHEW! Wild, wild imagination, Renz! Way to go! *Slow clap*

We didn't have a choice but to walk a million miles back to the main gate of the university. Despite the heat of the sun, we still enjoyed our DIY tour inside KK's state university.

Uptown KK - so clean and organized

Late lunch.

We finally boarded a bus that would take us to downtown. The heat of the sun made us as hungry as lions. Rawr.

Fast forward, we ate a lot at a local restaurant at Waterfront and waited for the sunset.

And just as we've expected, it was breathtaking... although it would be better if the sun wasn't obscured by clouds... but despite that I was in awe. I just loved it as how the colors the red spectrum played beautifully in the afternoon sky. Well, I just love sunsets.

Beautiful sunset.

The sky turned bright yellow, then dark orange, then red then twilight. Then I told myself that this is a good sign. Tomorrow's gonna be an awesome day for everyone.

And yep, it really was.

NEXT STOP: Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park! YAHOO!

To be continued...
