For The Love Of Instagram (and other photo apps)

Follow me: @rmbulseco

It has been a year since I downloaded Instagram on my iPod Touch (which now belongs to my brother). There's so much hype about this app even up to this date. The interface is very simple: take a photo of anything that fancies you, apply a desired filter, then voila! You now have a "vintage-y grungy-ey looking-ey" photo. No need to post process photos on photoshop! Even the most mundane thing on earth, say a trash bin or a silly photo of you could turn into an extraordinary one with the help of the available filters.

Instagram really helps me when it comes to updating my life. It's something like, "Hey everyone! I am still alive and I am currently eating the world's most delicious steak!" or "Hey friends, it's been a while! Here in Marina Bay Sands, enjoying the night swim at their infinity pool. Best day of my life! EVER!". Kidding aside, Instagram allows me to update my folks about my whereabouts and whatnots. For instance, my parents, as well as my brother, have their own IG account. It brings us closer by just looking at our recent photos. Even if I am a thousand kilometers away from them, I feel like I am just beside them. Sounds cliché but true story, bro! I cannot imagine life without IG. It's just like Facebook or Facetime, but IG's cuter and more creative.

Speaking of being creative, Instagram also allows me to try out "iPhonegraphy". The term is derived from two words: iPhone and Photography. An iPhone or an iPad can also be a great tool for photography! It just shows that your tool does not really matter when taking a good photo. All you need is a good subject with a proper lighting and other important basic elements in photography. Although having a better tool means better performance, it does not really limit you to capture a great photo.

Here are some of my photos, captured by either my iPhone or iPad:

Sunset at Manila
KK, Sabah
Clark, Pampanga
Above the clouds, somewhere in Bukidnon.
Baby you're a firework!
Bonifacio Global City, Taguig

To make my photos more stunning, I also post process photos on separate apps. I recommend Afterlight, VSCO Cam and Tiled (for making photo collage).

IG made my life easier. All I need is to snap a photo, apply necessary filters and upload it for your followers to see it. There's no need to upload it again on your laptop and edit it on photoshop. That process takes time!

So yeah, you can follow my IG account at @rmbulseco. See you there!

  1. It's very easy to find out any topic on net as compared to books, as I found this post at this web page.

  3. I just wish though, that Instagram would update their filters. They're so outdated already. But I still love IG.

    1. Agree! I also want to have the freedom to adjust the brightness, contrast, and other properties.
