Postcard: From Junk to Art

Awesome street art at KK.

While strolling around downtown Kota Kinabalu, we passed by this particular abandoned lot, adjacent to the mall. We surmised that a building once stood there, and got demolished after some time. Its foundations were the only remaining part. Somehow, it was vandalized using spray paints and other similar materials. I am not a fan of street art because I'd always associate it with gang, drugs, and other manifestations of an evil and malevolent spirit (lolwhat). Sounds OA, but true story, bro.

My perceptions however changed after visiting this particular spot at downtown KK.

Serious Hiker? Head to Phoenix's Hottest Trailheads

Despite the fierce summer heat, Phoenix, Arizona is a great place for hikers, mountain bikers and other outdoorsy types. Hiking is a year-round activity in the Sonoran Desert. Over 200 miles of trails are available in the Phoenix metro area alone. If you're hitting the trails during the summer you'll want to get an early start — a very early start. While we all know it's a cardinal rule, always pack plenty of water. The dry desert heat wicks away sweat quickly and it's easy to get dehydrated without realizing it.

Travel Essential: Smartphone

Roughly three years ago, when the term "Smartphones" was new to me, I thought that it was unnecessary to own one, especially when you live in a third world country. I thought that touch screen phones were way too fancy for my taste, or a Wi-Fi/3G enabled phone was already too much for me. And besides I have a laptop. I could always go to a coffee shop or any Wi-Fi enabled shops for me to access the realm of internet. Or so I thought.

I never thought that I'd own one sooner than I thought and I really valued its importance.
