Planespotting in Manila

It's the month of February and that means I am going to celebrate Valentine's with my first love - aviation! Yesterday, after my duty, I went to the PPSG (Philippine Plane Spotter Group) HQ located at Multinational Avenue, Parañaque near the end of NAIA's runway 06 to meet up with my #ProjectSingaporeAirshow2014 friends (gee, what a long sentence). By the way, we're going to Singapore this February 13-16 to attend the Singapore Airshow 2014, plus a little bit of side trips. It's going to be my first time in Singapore and I'm going to make the most out of it! I can no longer contain my excitement!

Now back to the topic. Since last year, I have posted a few entries about my planespotting activities in Davao International Airport (ICAO: RPMD). It sure is an exciting activity most especially if there's a high volume of air traffic. But I admit that it gets boring if (1) there's only one or two arrivals/departures, and; (2) all aircraft are of the same type/model - example, the famous and best-seller Airbus A320-200. It was my first  time to spot in Manila with my DSLR. Without minding the scorching heat of the sun, I went near the perimeter fence and took a lot of photos... as if there's no tomorrow! Heh.

Ninoy Aquino International Airport is the busiest airport of the Philippines. It handles a total of 25 million passengers a year. It has four passenger terminals, and has two runways that intersect each other. Every day, it handles at least 800-900 flights. There is a substantial increase of passengers per year but the airport itself can no longer be expanded due to the presence of residential and commercial areas around the complex.

Here are some of my favorite shots, taken near the PPSG headquarters. Too bad the airport authority put up a secondary fence, ruining potential angles of the aircraft on taxiway Charlie. I am still baffled by its presence; I don't see its importance. Tsss. Anyway, for hi-res downloads, click here!

See that fence on the right side? It ruined my photo. It didn't give justice to SIA's sexiness. B777-200.

All hail the Arabian Queen. I'll be forever enamored by the B747-400's beauty. Timeless beauty.

Yo momma's so big she can't fit inside the frame.

"Hey Saudia, here's my butt!" - Cebu Pacific A330-300

"I will follow you..." - Saudia B747-400

Look who's stalking!

I'm sexy and I know it! Tenenenen tenenenen!

Gandang 'di mo inakala! PAL Airbus A320-200

The sexy B777-300ER of Philippine Airlines. Your home in the sky.

Seems like this Airbus A321-200 of PAL had undergone rigorous 'bath'. Sinawsaw ata to sa bleach!

Next project: The low light photography version of it. It's gonna be more challenging!

  2. Love the pictures Renz, the first time I saw A380 of Emirates landed at SGN. I was speechless, I was praising it with all the superlatives.

Plane spotting is also my past time, that's why I go to the airport at least 4 hours so I have ample time to view them. I will share all the captures when I complete my SEA trip :)

    1. The Airbus A380-800 is unappealing to me, but I'd still want to have an A380 cabin experience. :) can't wait for your aviation photos!
