The Best Shopping Cities in Europe

Shopping at Amsterdam, Netherlands

Europe has so much to offer the visitor thanks to its history and shops. Europe is a haven for visitors intent on fashion shopping, and that means a trip to the high streets of some of the leading European cities.

French designs and fashion are popular worldwide and Paris is a magnet for fashion shoppers. One of the top fashion stores in Paris is L’Eclaireur on the rue de Sévigné, where you will find a host of the top brands on offer. Melinda Gloss, set on rue Madame, is the store to visit for top menswear. Paris, aside from its famous landmarks, such as the Eiffel Tower, is a haven for quality shopping.

Cross the English Channel and you will discover how good the shopping malls in United Kingdom really are. For those intent on picking up some fashion, then a trip to the top boutiques in London is a must. London is replete with shopping malls and first-rate, high street stores, making the city one of the best shopping destinations in the world. Liberty of London and Harvey Nichols are famed as stores to pick up high-end fashion and quality products. Take in a show in the West end after a day’s shopping and discover how wonderful a place London really is.

Back on the European mainland, Amsterdam in the Netherlands, offers a unique shopping experience. Famous stores in the city include Bijenkorf in Dam Square and Maison de Bonneterie, located on the Ronkin, but one of the most intriguing locations for the discerning shopper is on PC Hoofstraat, where you will discover top stores and brands such as Louis Vuitton, Tiffany & Co, Boss, and Valentino.

The joy of shopping in a city, in Europe, and elsewhere, is the rich variety of stores and shopping malls as well as the wonderful sights. This is most certainly the case with Rome. Once the heart of one of the greatest empires the world has ever known, and home to magnificent ruins of the Coliseum, Rome is filled with popular shopping streets. Worth a visit is the Via Cola di Rienzo to the north of the Vatican City. Here, there is a rich choice of stores including fashion boutiques and prices, though not cheap, are very reasonable.

For a less hectic shopping experience while in Rome, visit Via del Corso, an area filled with fashion boutiques and where you can enjoy a drink in one of the local bars.

Berlin, the capital of prosperous Germany, offers the visitor a diverse shopping experience. The city offers everything from traditional department stores to farmers markets. For those visiting Berlin intent on picking up some fashion, then a visit to Voo on Oranienstrasse is a must. For the younger shopper, Quartier206 store on Friedrichstrasse is a delight with its range of men’s and women’s clothing and beauty products.

Europe offers a rich mix of cultures and shopping opportunities. This makes the continent’s top cities excellent shopping locations and well worth a visit.
