Prologue: The Cool-Ah Lumpur Adventure

Off to a trip to Malaysia's capital city.

Last Easter Sunday, my colleagues and I booked a round trip ticket to Malaysia's capital, Kuala Lumpur. For only Php 3,100, one can book a roundtrip ticket to KL from Manila, all thanks to Cebu Pacific Air's promo fare. I keep on telling everyone that traveling abroad doesn't need to be expensive.

We only have two days before our travel, and we can no longer contain our excitement! Here's a sneak peek of our Cool-Ah Lumpur adventure. I know it sounds lame but, I love puns! Deal with it.

Initially, we were only three when we booked our flights to KL. When I created the first draft of our itinerary, we considered commuting to Batu Caves, Genting Highlands, and other must-see places in Kuala Lumpur. But months after, more and more people wanted to join us. To make the long story short, we are now seven in our group, three of them will be traveling abroad for the first time.

Since we are going to travel in a big group, commuting would be a disaster. Good thing, a good blogger friend of mine (Hi Joey and Sky!) sent me a contact of a van rental service in KL who also happens to be our fellow kababayan as well (transactions were made easier!). Commuting became a concern because we will be visiting far-flung places such as Genting Highlands, and the airport is really far from downtown KL.

Like any other first time visitors in KL, we will be visiting Batu Caves (and yes, we are all serious in climbing the steep stairs to reach the giant Buddha), KL Tower, Petronas Tower, and we will also try Malaysia's local dishes. Our hotel is just near Bukit Bintang district, so walking and shopping (lol) around shouldn't be a problem.

And that's not all! Originally, we planned to just go around KL and its neighboring provinces, but one of my travel buddies requested to have an overnight trip in Singapore! Whoa. So, we looked for cheap fares to Singapore from Kuala Lumpur, and voila! All seven of us found a cheap round-trip fare to Singapore. I know, I know! An overnight stay in Singapore is not enough but I guess my friend just wanted to experience what it feels like living in a first-world country, even just for one night. In Singapore, we'd just have a laid back trip. We'll eat their local dishes (CHICKEN RICE HERE WE COME!!!), explore Sentosa and Resorts World, dine in Makansutra, and visit the 'Avatar' Garden aka Gardens by the Bay at night.

I can't hardly wait to blog about our KL-SG experience. We do not know what's really in store for us but I am pretty confident that our trip would be a blast!

Fun fact: Several flights to and from Manila will be cancelled from Nov 16-21 due to the APEC summit in Manila. None of our flights were affected by it, so yey! The stars were truly aligned for this trip!

  3. Kuala Lumpur is really a beautiful place and I hope to visit it again. Your lucky that your flight was not diverted. I had to rebook my Cambodia trip a day earlier because of the cancellations.

  4. Something to explore KL, Malaysia's capital. The cost to travel is really affordable. I have kept on dreaming to visiting places, but never ever has been realized. Still, this is added to my dream list.
