The Chocolate Chamber

A sweet escape.

I was awake for more than 24 hours. After devouring hot wings at Gibbs', we went straight to LIV Superclub and partied way too hard because duh, we only live once. At almost five in the morning, we went back to our hotel, and slept right away without bothering changing my clothes. I was reeking nicotine and alcohol that time, eww.

For our next stop in #CebuFoodCrawl, we went to The Chocolate Chamber in Mabolo, Cebu City for some sweet affair. It was an antithesis of last night's activities.

People with sweet tooth like me will definitely love this place. I eat chocolates whenever I'm stressed, depressed, or bored. There were days when I'd get grumpy if I didn't eat any products made from chocolates for more than a week. The boutique shop of The Chocolate Chamber looks elegant inside and out. Some may find it intimidating as the interiors are adorned with silverwares, ceramics, and other expensive looking decorations. Truth is, they are missing a lot. Well, good chocolate comes with a price.

Cebu's Chocolate Queen - Ms. Raquel Choa

It was an honor to meet Cebu's Chocolate Queen, none other than Ms. Raquel Choa. She even had a demo on how to grind dried cacao beans, and how to make a hot chocolate drink out of it. Very interesting.

Here are the things that you shouldn't miss in The Chocolate Chamber:

Cerveza Negra Cake

Choconib Oatmeal Cookies with Mango Nuggets

Flourless Chocolate Cake

Chocolate Pizzaaaaaaaa! Yum!

We also had the chance to learn more about the history of The Chocolate Chamber. It was nice to know about how Cebu's renowned Chocolate Queen beat the odds and adversaries of life while attaining her dreams. She was truly inspiring. No wonder she gets so many invites from media and other events both here in abroad.

The next time you get stressed from work or school, visit The Chocolate Chamber and indulge yourself with sweetness made from locally grown cacao beans.

  1. Tsokolateria from Baguio employs the same method of grinding their cacao and uses the same stuff! Gahd, wish I hadn't seen this post. Made me think of all the things I missed while I was in Cebu. HUHU
