Postcard: Cebu's Wild Beaches

Malapascua, Cebu
Rockberg!

Before 2011 ended, I decided to fly out of Davao to Cebu to meet up with my travel blogger friends; it was my first time to see them in person (lol). Actually, seeing them beyond the screen of my laptop was surreal. Upon arrival, we headed straight to the north bus terminal and off we went to the pristine beaches of Cebu.

Feed Your Mind at The Mind Museum

The Mind Museum
Inside the geeky museum.

I cannot deny that I love science; it is one of the reasons why I took a degree in Biology back in college (don't ask why I didn't pursue a medical career, you already knew that). Ever since grade school and high school, science has been my favorite subject and I do remember one time back in third grade, my classmate and I had a heated argument about whether Mercury is the hottest planet in the solar system or not. It took us an hour inside the library to discuss about it. He thought that Mercury's the hottest while yours truly firmly believed it's Venus (naks palaban). Well.... Uhhhh.... that's adorkable, and at the same time, scary. Normal nine year old kids should be out, playing under the heat of the sun rather than discuss about the solar system!

I miss having heated debates related to science though because I only know a few people who are sooooo engrossed with it. But a visit to The Mind Museum last weekend brought me back to my first love. Ahhhh, those good ol' days.

Outwit, Outplay, Outlast - Survivor Outland Adventure!

Outland Adventure Davao
Walking, it's more fun in Outland Adventure!

And once again, I'm back! It really feels great when your at your comfort zone. The past few weeks had been tough; it was truly challenging... well, mentally so to speak. My brain needs a rest because it's been in 'turbo' mode since Papa Jisas knows when. Haha! For the past few months, I was really craving for a real adventure. By intense, I mean bungee jumping, ziplining with a speed close to the speed of light (whoa), swimming and all those things that you've seen in Amazing Race, NatGeo Adventures, and other adventure-related shows.

Of Ruined Vacations: Cancelled and Delayed Flights

Cebu
The Art Of Waiting. Photo taken at Mactan-Cebu Int'l Airport

Janelle Tan (not her real name) had already planned to have a grand vacation in Boracay with her college friends. It has been years since their last adventure. She and her friends availed a promo fare to Caticlan months before their Boracay escapade. As the date of their vacation drew nearer, Janelle couldn't contain her excitement. She had already packed her things, and updated her social media accounts.

"Boracay, see you in three days! #vacation #MyLife #MainggitKa", her Twitter account said.

The day of their flight came. They were scheduled to leave Manila at three in the afternoon. At 1PM, they were already inside NAIA Terminal 3. Everything went well; they did not encounter any problems. After 20 minutes, they were already at the pre-departure area. It was rather full of people, as expected. Every summer, there is a significant increase of flights in and out of Manila, mostly coming from the domestic sector.

They were expected to board at 2:40 PM, as indicated on their boarding passes. It was already 3PM and there were no any advisories regarding their flight. Janelle was expecting this, maybe a 15 to 20 minute delay. At 3:30 PM, they were advised that their new ETD (Estimated Time of Departure) will be at 3:40 PM due to air traffic congestion over Manila.
