Salagdoong Beach: Siquijor's Paradise

It was a hot and humid Thursday afternoon when we toured the island of Siquijor. Due to lack of sleep, I just dozed off inside the tricycle as we made our way to our next destination - Salagdoong Beach. The sun was at its zenith when we arrived at Salagdoong Beach.

Robbie and Ate Gael nudged me. "Gising na! Dito na tayo." (Wake up! We're already here!)

This was the first thing I saw when I opened my eyes:

Salagdoong Beach, Siquijor
Take me to the beach! Salagdoong Beach of Siquijor

I thought I was still dreaming.

I wasn't.

Where to Stay at Siquijor: End of the World Guesthouse

end of the world siquijor

After taking photos of Siquijor's clean pier, we walked all the way to the main highway of Siquijor. And just what we have expected, we were greeted with Traysikolmamsers and Mamsertwopiptylangposaakins, instead of the usual "Good afternoon, welcome to Siquijor!". When Robbie told one of the drivers that we're going to the End of The World, Ate Gail and I thought that he was just joking.

No, he was dead serious that time! True enough, our next destination was End of the World... guesthouse!

The Mystical Island of Siquijor: An Overview

The original plan was this: tour the southern part of Cebu and the island of Bohol. We successfully did the former but failed to accomplish the latter due to some unfavorable events. Because of it, Robbie and I decided to come up with an alternative plan. Good thing was, we met RV and helped us with our predicament.

The beautiful port of San Juan, Siquijor

We did not really expect that we would invade the mystical island of Siquijor the following day!

Swimming with Whale Sharks in Oslob, Cebu

I thought that the only way to have a close encounter with the whale sharks or butanding/tuki is to travel all the way to Donsol, Sorsogon which is undeniably, a million light-years away from Davao.

Swam with the gentle giants: CHECK!

It was until in December of 2011 when I read Drew's blog post about his whale shark experience in Oslob, Cebu. And since we were scheduled to go back to Cebu last month, swimming with the gentle giants became our number one priority.

Conquering Osmeña Peak of Cebu

The mountains meant nothing to me before.

I never appreciated it and never in my life did I aspire to climb even the pandak-est mountain. Well, I used to be a lazy boy who just wanted to do easy things. But my perspectives changed after I successfully climbed Mount Pinatubo. It was one of my glorious days; seeing the turquoise-blue lake literally blew me away.

Osmena Peak

Months prior my South Cebu trip, Jerome, Robbie and I planned to conquer Cebu's highest peak. I have seen a lot of beautiful photos of Osmeña Peak from the internet and read that the trek to the summit wasn't that difficult.

Or so we thought.

Travel Inspiration: Aurora Borealis

I was only seven when a group of astronomers who came all the way from UP Diliman visited our school to put up their mini-planetarium and to teach us some basic information about Astronomy. Some found it uninteresting but for hardcore geeks like me, it was a rare and an exciting opportunity to know more about the planets and the stars.

I admit that I couldn't hide my excitement as I entered the inflated mini-planetarium. My teacher even scolded me for being so noisy. I kept on blabbering about the sun, the planets and the stars. My classmates got annoyed while the scientists got entertained. Told you I was a hardcore geek.

Then, one of the scientists instructed us to look at the ceiling. Then, the once dark ceiling started to glitter.

For the Love of Aviation!

I will be forever in love with aviation; it's my first (and last) love! I couldn't imagine myself if I live a few centuries back where ships and horses are the primary mode of transportation. I am truly grateful that I live in a generation where human beings and airplanes coexist with each other.

Just last week, I purchased a new toy, my new Canon 1100D. It's actually an upgrade since my new toy's capable of recording HD videos. And for my first subject, I went to the control tower yesterday to take videos and pictures of planes departing and arriving at Davao International Airport.

The Ultimate Cebu Food Trip Experience

Eating has been my favorite hobby ever since. I mean, who doesn't, right? During my recent trip in Cebu City, my travel buddies and I decided to just chill out along IT Park before embarking on an epic Central Visayas trip.

And when I say 'chill-out', it means only one thing - eat and drink as if there is no tomorrow.

The weather starts to get hotter and more humid as days go by. School's about to end and for those who work from nine to five, non-working holidays start to pile up. The beaches, as well as the mountains look inviting right now.
