Melbourne To Be Wild

If there's one city in the world where I can enjoy the laidback lifestyle, its sceneries, the accessibility, high quality of living and experience its unique local culture, it's Melbourne. Unlike its sibling, Sydney, which is now overcrowded and a highly urbanized area, Melbourne offers a character that no other city could offer.

The flight to Melbourne from Manila takes 7 hours and 40 minutes. This time, however, we left Manila past noon. We arrived in Melbourne at past midnight, and after the long queue at customs, we finally arrived at our hotel at 2 in the morning. My mom and I were dead tired from our trip and woke up late.

We stayed at City Tempo, located on Queen Street. Our hotel is an ideal location since it is at the heart of downtown Melbourne. Not to mention that it is so accessible to the free tram zone. Moreover, I didn't like taking long walks because it wasn't that hot, thank God.

When in Melbourne, here are the places that you should visit:

  1. Queen Victoria Market
  2. State Library of Victoria
  3. National Gallery of Victoria
  4. Shrine of Remembrance
  5. Old Melbourne Gaol
  6. Southbank
  7. Direct Factory Outlet (DFO) - Docklands/Essendon
  8. Bourke Street Mall
  9. Chadstone Shopping Center
  10. Dendy Street Beach, Brighton
  11. Hosier Lane
  12. Federation Square
  13. Flinders Street Station
  14. St. Patrick's Cathedral
  15. St. Kilda Beach

Despite the lack of views, I still prefer Melbourne over Sydney. It's more laid back here and cheaper than in Sydney, where you must burn dollars to enjoy. I would love to live here long-term should I have enough resources and vacation leave credits.

I made a vlog about my recent trip to Melbourne, and it's already up on YouTube. Just click this link. I hope you guys like it as much as I enjoyed doing it. In the meantime, here are some of my favorite photos from my recent visit to Melb.

The fantastic glass roof of Chadstone Shopping Center, the largest shopping center in Australia. But this is different from the shopping malls in the Philippines. Rockwell feels.
