Into the Wild

‘Sup guys! I am Renz Marione M. Bulseco, 20-something years old from Davao City, Philippines. People call me Renz or sometimes Renzy. I just recently graduated from University of the Philippines Mindanao with a degree in Biology.

I started documenting my travel stories last June 2011 but I have been to various places in Mindanao and some parts of Luzon and Visayas for some time. As a Biology student, I was assigned to conduct field works at different locations. At one point, I went to Iligan City, and the following week, I went to Camiguin Island. It had dawned on me that there are so many beautiful places in my own country in which some locals weren't aware about it.

Thus the inception of this travel blog.

You might be wondering why I chose ‘thetravelingnomad’ as my blog’s URL. I know it sounds redundant but here are the reasons. A nomad is (1) a member of a group of people who have no fixed home and move according to the seasons from place to place in search of food, water, and grazing land; and (2) a person with no fixed residence who roams about; a wanderer. Traveling on the other hand is defined as 'to go from one place to another, as on a trip; journey'. For me, traveling is NOT limited to transferring from one place to another. When I travel, I learn how to appreciate life. It is totally different whenever I’m not at my hometown, my comfort zone. Thus, I want to create another definition for traveling – one who transfers to another place and experiences life beyond his comfort zone.

I am a nomad who moves from place to another and I travel because I want to experience life in different places; in different perspectives. Hence, thetravelingnomad.

Only a few people will understand why some of us invest a LOT in traveling and end up penniless after the trip. But you know at the end of the day, it is all worth it – the memories and the experiences. Traveling is one of the best investments in life since you have the chance to choose your travel date. Unlike cars who have a fixed price, traveling can be really cheap as long as you know how to scramble your way through promo fares and how you plan your itinerary ahead of time.

Before conquering Asia (and possibly, the world), I shall visit various provinces and islands of the Philippines to showcase how beautiful my country is. Huwag maging dayuhan sa sariling bayan (Don’t be a stranger in your country).

Have a happy and safe trip everyone!

  1. Wow you're sooooo young! I really envy you and others in PTB. You start out early in life, as in bagets talaga. When I was 21, wala pang internet and digicam, haha! I've had so many travels then pero almost limot ko na. In your case, you get to have everything documented. :)

  16. Interesting words to introduce thyself as an avid traveller. You're lucky you are documenting you're travels at that age. I had travels when I was younger but never documented them so far they are just memories now. My recent one was at

  24. Hi renz! Idk if you still remember, but I think we were contacts at Multiply. I saw your twitter account suggested in my twitter sidebar, and I thought your name sounded familiar, then I saw your website :)

Congrats here on your new home (kahit di na sya new kasi 2011 pa pala to, hehe), and on your travels. Gusto ko rin mag-travel sa PH bago sa labas, there's just so much to see here.

Anyway, just dropped by to say hi! It's a small world wide web.
