Traversing the Davao-Bukidnon Border

Buda is the place to be.

If there's one place in Davao Region that I would want to visit all over again, it's definitely Buda (Bukidnon-Davao). Buda is the favorite destination of travelers who choose to unwind and relax from the bustling metropolis, all thanks to its cool climate and clean environment.

Buda is approximately an hour and a half away from downtown Davao and can be reached via Davao-Bukidnon Road. Situated along the mountain slopes of Mount Talomo, the Davao-Bukidnon highway traverses the districts of Marilog and Marahan, Calinan, and Arakan Valley, North Cotabato. The quarantine checkpoint marks the boundary of Davao City and the province of Bukidnon. This particular road network is the fastest way to reach Bukidnon and Cagayan de Oro City of Misamis Oriental.

And because the climate here is relatively cooler (altitude: 4500 ft ASL), conifers are abundant as well as strawberries and other exotic flowers.

Buti walang 10-wheeler truck na dumaan. LOL

BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE!

Buda offers a lot of mountain resorts such as Seagull Mountain Resort, owned by a prominent politician here in Davao. If you're an adventure seeker, explore the innards of Buda and discover its hidden gem that everyone will surely love.

BUT FIRST, you must finish a challenging task.

The Task

The task involves trekking a muddy and rocky slopes for at least 30-40 minutes, depending on your pace. Sounds simple, but the trail's a bit treacherous. You know, I slid a couple of times and it hurt my butt and back big time! The trail can be difficult most especially if it rained prior the trek. Pero keriboomboompaw lang. As long as you wear proper trekking attire, everything's gonna be fine.

JUNGLE BOOK!

The Hidden Gem Named EPOL

Tadaaaaaaaa! Epol Falls! EPOL stands for Everlasting Power of Love (what a powerful name for a waterfall) and formerly known as Spring Valley Resort. It is a cascading waterfall and one can take a dip along the catch basin of the falls. Although I have to warn you that the water is so cold. As in tubig-na-galing-sa-chiller cold.

But still, it's a best place to bond with your family and friends. But I don't recommend of bringing your asthmatic or yung mga may sakit sa puso/highblood friends. Aside from killing the 'joyous' moments of your trip, it's waywardly dangerous.

Fairyland!

Chilling at the Mountain

We stayed at Kuya Drew's rest house near Lorega, Bukidnon. The place itself is very peaceful, clean and cold.

Abella rest house!

  1. I miss that place. Dyan ako nagpaka-outdoors nung bata ako. I stayed overnight in that area even before the house was built. And imagine me cimbing down the slope then back up to the highway when I was around 10 years old. WAHAHA!
