I missed my flight, but Maya saved me!

As someone who travels a lot, I tend to overlook things, even the most basic ones, like my airline itinerary. So when I booked my flight to Bucharest, Romania, things took a downward spiral when I missed my second layover.

For context, my original flight was with a Middle Eastern carrier, and it required only one layover in Doha. Great, since I hadn’t flown this particular airline or made any layovers in Doha. They said it was one of the best airports in the world. But due to unforeseen circumstances, I had to cancel my flight and look for routes that bypassed the conflict zone. As someone who doesn’t want to take risks and takes a pragmatic approach to travel, I booked another flight to Bucharest.

But here’s the catch: the only available connection was via Istanbul Airport, and it was on a different airline. When I saw my ticket, I still had more than five hours to clear immigration, claim my bag, and re-enter to check in for my flight to Bucharest.

Everything went well until the day before my flight.

I received an email stating that my flight had been moved to an earlier time slot, which meant I only had one hour of layover instead of five. That would be fine if it were the same booking/airline, but it wasn’t. Panic ensued. I tried calling the customer service of that airline, but to no avail; I was only given one option: to accept the flight regardless. I tried to explain my situation, but they were adamant, citing the terms and conditions of my highly restrictive itinerary, which was my fault for not checking.

Panic ensued. I needed to book another flight, but it was way beyond my budget, as it was an unexpected expense.

Good thing I remembered Maya Easy Credit and was able to use it! Maya Easy Credit provided me with the funds without delay. I didn’t have to wait days for approval, and the best part was that I didn’t need to submit any paperwork or go through a series of emails and calls to follow up on my application. With that, I immediately booked another flight (while reading the fine print of my ticket’s terms and conditions; lesson learned) to Bucharest. Truly, Maya Easy Credit is a lifesaver.

If you’re still unfamiliar with it, Maya Easy Credit offers a revolving credit line of up to P50,000, repayable within 30 days, making it a practical option for short-term financial needs. Since everything happens directly in the Maya app, from borrowing to repayment, it’s easier to stay on top of your dues, manage your balance responsibly, and avoid the hassle that usually comes with traditional lending.

Because of this, I didn’t have to worry about missing the first day of my intended trip to Bucharest. I had already laid out my plans for weeks, and not following the itinerary for just one day would totally ruin the experience.

If there’s one key takeaway from this experience, it’s to read the fine print of my airline ticket and be more flexible when it comes to planning trips.

Because no matter how experienced you are, things can go off track, and we need to accept that. I am glad I have access to the right financial support. The trip turned out to be one of the best I have experienced so far.
