The Singapore Airshow 2014 Experience

Singapore Airshow 2014

As a die-hard fan of the aviation industry, attending a major airshow has been on my bucket list. Just last week, the dream went into reality when I became part of this momentous event. I didn't expect that I'd join this event most especially that I have an unpredictable work schedule. To cut the long story short, I traveled all the way to Singapore with my friends who are also into this obsession passion and had a blast!

Tagged as Asia's Biggest for Aviation's Finest, the Singapore Airshow 2014 is the largest in Asia and it is one of the most significant exhibitions in the world. This is not just exclusive to the business sector of aviation though as it includes a number of military aircraft on the display such as the fighter jets, C-130s, and a whole lot more. The show wasn't just packed with tourists and aviation enthusiasts like us.

Businessmen who work on aerospace companies that manufacture state-of-the-art equipment and technologies were also present as they try to sell their products to potential clients. I even had a chance to talk with one of Comsoft's representatives (the leading manufacturer of computer and navigation equipment). We talked about the air traffic congestion in the Philippines, the on-going CNS-ATM project, and other stuff related to air traffic control. It felt amazing, to be honest!

The airshow would not be complete without the outstanding aerobatic performances of the RSAF (Royal Singapore Air Force) Black Knights, RAAF F-18 of Australia, MV-22B Osprey of the United States, the USAF C-17 of the United States, TNI-AU Jupiter Aerobatic Team of Indonesia, and the ROKAF (Republic of Korea Air Force) Black Eagles of South Korea. These teams had performed very well that it made everyone's jaw dropped. It was THAT good that I almost cried. I swear during that moment, I felt infinite (HAHA). No, seriously, during that moment, everything felt surreal. I had to slap myself to verify that I wasn't dreaming.

I'd like to commend the organizers of Singapore Airshow 2014. Despite the crowd, they manage to make it smooth starting from the free shuttle ride from Expo to Changi Exhibition Center. I'd like to reiterate this that the Singaporean heat drained my energy but the efficiency of the show's logistics had saved me, at least. I couldn't imagine if it were chaotic and disorganized.

The Singapore Airshow is a biannual event, thus mark your calendars, folks! The next Singapore Airshow will be on February 16-21, 2016. I really can't wait to experience this again! It was indeed the highlight of my Singapore trip!
