DFAT Day 1 - Let the Hunger Games Begin!

Day 1 of the Hunger Games, Davao Edition.

Here's a summary report of what really happened during the first day of Davao Food Appreciation Tour (DFAT).

Summary report talaga?!

0500 - Alarm went off. Got up from my bed, went to my desk, turned off the alarm and went back to sleep. Wow, talking about the alarm's inefficiency. /sarcasm.

0535 - Dad woke me up. "Gising na! Diba 6AM darating mga participants niyo? Dumaan na ata ang eroplano nila. (Wake up! Your participants will arrive at 6AM, right? I think I heard their plane lining up for final approach)", he said. And suddenly, there's pandemonium. Adrenaline rush.

0545 - Ate breakfast, took a bath and suited up at lightning speed. At that time, I feel like I'm Flash.

0600 - Dad drove me to the airport ala Michael Schumacher style. He beat the red light twice. Woops. Just kidding.

0625 - Met up with the participants at the airport. Was about 10 minutes late. 2P 981 landed 10 minutes ahead of schedule. Arrrggghhh.

0720 - Ate breakfast at Bo's Coffee (F. Torres branch). Finally ate real breakfast food - bacon, scrambled egg and toasted bread.

0810 - Texted Ate Gael about her whereabouts. Little did we know that she's already in Davao! She later joined us at Bo's 30 minutes after our initial contact (parang alien lang).

0835 - Updated our status and photos on Twitter and Facebook. Majority of them clicked the like button... all of them got jealous. Who wouldn't, right? >:)

0910 - Went back to Ate Gael's temporary abode to get her things, went back to Bo's, then went home to get some stuff (forgot to bring the IDs of the participants! FAIL). Went straight to the airport after that to fetch Ate MJ and Kuya Tim, both from Iloilo City.

1040 - Joined the rest of the crew at Bo's.

1100 - I think I slept on the couch. Good thing no one took a photo of me... or so I thought.

1330 - Woke up from my 'power' nap. Now prepping up to our first pig-out destination: Ranchero's. But before that, our participants checked-in at Green Windows.

1410 - Chow time at Ranchero's in Abreeza Ayala Mall! Ranchero's offered us Filipino merienda meals such as Pansit Guisado Sotanghon, Kakanin Trio (Tibok-Tibok, Sticky Rice with Mango and Suman sa Lihiya at Latik), Fried Lumpia and Fresh Lumpia. Their Suman sa Lihiya at Latik is to die for!!!

This was also the time when we introduced ourselves.
"Hi I'm Robbie, ang diyosa ng Mandaluyong."
"Hi, I'm Eric, ang walking Sto. Niño ng Bacolod."
"Hi, I'm Ria, ang diyosa ng Pilipinas."
Something like that.

We even had a mini-shoot outside!

Will definitely blog about this look.

1550 - Left Abreeza Ayala Mall and went back to Green Windows to fix something. By five o'clock, we left the hotel and went to Crocodile Park for free! Hurray!

1710 - Arrived at the Crocodile Park. The animal show has already wrapped up but the animals were still there. Later we found out that Anj got almost kissed by a baby tiger. Yes, a baby tiger as big as an adult male German Shepherd dog.

1730 - Went straight to the Tribu K'Mindanawan to watch the spectacular fire show. Once again, the performers didn't fail to amaze me.

1845 After taking numerous group photos (epic fail jump shots included), we headed straight to Lachi's Sans Rival Atbp. for dinner. Oh... Lachi's, home of the mouthwatering Sans Rival and other pastries.

1915 Dinner. DND.

The main course.

Pastries.

Lachi's has been my favorite restaurant in Davao ever since. My personal favorites are the following: Durian Sans Rival, Symphony Cake, Macarons and their Blueberry and Raspberry cheesecakes. Their pastries are not too sweet but not too bland - just the right amount. And for the meals, I really love their Oriental Chicken, Pork Marinara and their Unforgettable Steak.

1945 Coy Caballes of Globe together with Cheyser Pedregosa gave a short talk about TattAwards. Time to nominate some worthy bloggers from Davao and hope we (yes, including me! Lol) make it to the final cut.

2030 Globe raffled one Globe Tattoo Stick and Anj won it. I. SO. HATE. HER. Damn. Talking about being lucky.

2120 Bye Lachi's! :( Closing time, every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end.

2230 Went back to my house to pack my things. Decided to join other participants at Green Windows.

---

The succeeding days were even more sinful. Stay tuned.

Our heartfelt gratitude to the following sponsors for this particular day:
  • Lachi's Sans Rival Atbp. - located at Ruby St., Marfori Heights, Davao City.
  • Ranchero's - located at the 3rd floor of Abreeza Ayala Mall, J.P. Laurel Avenue, Bajada, Davao City.
  • Globe Telecom.
  • AirPhil Express.
